My husband's name is Cliff, and we just found out that he has Gastric Stomach Cancer. He had to have 1/2 of his stomach removed, an ulcer, and a tumor. They tested 16 of his lump nodes, and 9 were cancerous. The doctor said that they took out all of the cancer that they could see with the human eye. He has to start aggressive chemotherapy on May 2, 05. He is 43 yrs. old, and we have 8 children they range from 26-22 months old. This is a very scary time for us. Please pray for our family. 4/28/05.

Pam I will pray for your family. My husband found out he had stomach cancer about 3yrs ago. My husband is also young with a family. We just had our 3rd child this past July, our 1st boy. My husband almost died 1 mos. before my son was born. He was going to have the surgery but doctors found it has spread to his lung. They told him when his blood cells evened out he could start radiation. When he was released from the hospital they gave him 7 mos. to live. Well it has been 11 mos. and he is doing good. He is receiving no treatments and refuses to do so at this time. He does have his bad days but I believe he will be around long enough for our son to remember his daddy. Our daughters 11 & 12 are scared but they no just make everyday count. They are very strong they keep me going.
best regard, Jen

My boyfriend had 80% of his stomach removed and part of his esophagus the end of May from a gastric stomach tumor. It's been a rough road. He has severe back pain since then and we don't know what it is. He has had several CT scans and x-rays but they don't show anything. We don't think this is "referred pain". It seems like the doctors aren't that concerned with it, but I can't find anything online about pain being that bad, and it's very disturbing.
He also is having an alternative treatment Poly-MVA and he doesn't have any cancer markers in his blood.
Good luck.

My husband (39 yrs. young) was diagnosed with Gastrointestinal cancer in June 2005 at Loyola University. He did 3 rounds of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation. On Dec. 1, 2005 he was supposed to have a total gastrectomy. He had taken all of the scan (pet, ct and an endoscopy)they all came back negative. The surgery was supposed to take 4 hours. After two hours of surgery, my family and I was informed that the surgery was over.

The surgeon came out and told us that after going in, he found that the cancer had spread to several parts of the abdominal cavity. The cancer had not yet invaded the organs but it's growth did prevent him from having the surgery. We were told at that time that he would have chemo again. We were told that they didn't really think it was going to work but that was what they had to do. The doctor said that they gave him 6 to 12 months to live if he didn't have the treatment and 6 months to whenever if he did.

Since his surgey, he had been having back pain as well. I contribute this pain to the spinal tap that he had while prepping him for surgery. This may be the same with your husband. I had a tap in 93 when I delivered my daughter and still have major back pain.

Please contact the Cancer Treatment Centers of America for continued support of your husband. They have a wonderful Mind, Body and Spirit philosophy. They combine traditional treatment with natural treatments. I am praying that they can help my husband. They have a very optimistic view and they is exactly what we did right now. Peace and blessing to you and your family. I with you good health and happiness.

J.
