Subject: Question About Wig Donation
Date: 04/28/2005
Hi,
My name is Jennifer and my mother-in-law has recently passed on from stage 4 uterine cancer with also spread to her lungs. Her name was Terry ans she touched many people's lives. Our family would like to donate her wig as she did not get to wear it very many times. She was diagnosed in early November and fought a hard battle until April 23, 2005. The wig she wore was made of real hair, short (back of neck), and already styled. When she is laid to rest we will not be leaving it on her and we (as well as Terry) would like to give it to someone who needs one but cannot afford to buy one. If anyone has any information on where we can donate it or give it to someone please contact me. Thank you in advance for any ideas and God Bless!!

I am very sorry about your mother-in-law. My mother has uterine cancer also. She has a squamous cell carcinoma cancer. What type did your mother-in-law have? We are searching for information on this type of cancer and are not having any luck. Her doctors are treating her as though she has cervical cancer because these isn't a protocol for her type of cancer.

Hi,
My name is Shawna and I have Alopecia and it is an autoimmune disease and I am losing my hair and it is almost completely gone... So it is time to start looking into wigs... My hair will never grow back. I have started to price them and they are really, really, expensive and it will take me awhile to save the money... had I known I would have started already. But I am fairly young and of course don’t want a gray wig or something of that nature.... but I really need a wig now and am looking into donation which is how I came across the message. If anyone can help me I would love the input.

Thank you,

If you are still looking for a wig, I have one that was never used. It is in perfect condition, chin length, in a lite honey brown color, with bangs. I think it would be perfect for a young person. It is not real hair, however. It is made of 100% modacrylic fiber. Please let me know if you are interested.

I am researching the availablity of a wig donatition. My sister, age 43, is undergoing chemo for breast cancer. Unfortunately her insurance will not cover the cost for a wig. This has been hard enough on her and the loss of her hair is harder for her emotionally than she expected. I would appreciate any help available. she lives in MA and is a burnett.
Thanks

Eileen. I am sorry about your sister. I have a wig to donate. It is not real hair, it is a pretty brown color, short, cost about $350. The only issue might be that it was made for me and I am a petite woman (35), so the measurement was small. My head is about 19 1/2 inches, which I was told is pretty small.

Would this help your sis?

If anyone needs a wig, not real hair, but good quality (cost $350 and has never been used). I am a petite woman though, and my head measurement is smaller than normal. Might be good for a teenager, or another petitie woman.
