The doctor said he has and abdominal mass that is cancerous,so it is blocking everything he eat or drink ,so they have to completely remove his stomach.and make him a small one.

                                lost

i wish i could give you some good news but all i can offer is prayer and my wifes experience to date.

my wife had a stomach tumor blocking food from going down to the small intestine.

her complete stomach was removed in sep.2007 the cancer was in 7 out of 9 l/nodes and in her liver.she has been going through chemo ever since the operation and has not been able to have anything buy mouth ever since the operation.she is not doing well at all and the doctors say not much can be done with this type of cancer.

we all have to pray a lot and hope things go well

for you and your family.

My prayers are with all of you being affected by this horrible disease. My grandfather had 80% of his stomach removed. He was able to eat well considering a smaller stomach but his esophagus closed up about a month after being released. Supposedly this is a common thing and can be relieved through a series of outpatient 'balloon' procedures. He is eating well again he seems to like tea biscuits as they are easily dissolved. Also he loves donuts and soft cakes and pound cake. He says these are the easiest. Soups like chicken noodle soup, cream of chicken and mushroom are also a biggie. Try to avoid gulping liquids as they cause sudden dumping syndrome which is exaclty what it sounds like. Very small sips of water with a meal is fine. Hope this has helped somewhat, hope things get better.
