My wife was diagnosed with carcinoid Nov., 2006 and has been on Sandostatin LR since that time. We just learned that a pump can be used instead of the monthly injections and that the pump will maintain a more even level of the drug. We would be interested in any comments from others who are using the pump as to advantages / disadvantages; how the sandostatin is kept "fresh" since it's normally refrigerated; Where did you obtain the pump--did your Dr. have to write an order? Anything you can tell us would be helpful as we no virtually nothing at this time.
