Update to 2nd mass post whipples

I went to see my doctor last week, my ultrasound was good..... that was such a relief. But it didnt explain why I am having the problems I am having. We talked in detail about my symptoms. He wants to admit me for a week for testing. He wants to scope me, MRI and blood insulin tests. I might have small masses/tumors/growths on the Islet cells in the pancreas which produce too much hormones. He told me this can be rare but it must be ruled out. He did put me on a new medication for my stomach, and I do admit it is helping, or seems to be. The only thing I didnt like is that he said that he wants to do the week of testing to try and not give me anymore scars on my body.

He wanted to admit me right away but I live 6 hours from the city and had to come home to get some things straightened away first. Im a single mother, and had to get my work schedule in order. Im a nurse but this is sure different on the other side. I didnt go back to school to be a nurse until after my Whipples, so anything is possible for those who are going to have a Whipples. Thanks to those who could add some comments in my last post.

Read your first post.  I'm glad your tests are coming back with good results.  Thought I would post and let you know that heart burn and watery mouth were symptoms I had that were caused by acid reflux (before Whipple surgery).  The meds they give for that really do help and often very quickly.  Also, I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia years before having serious problems and diagnosis of early stage PC.  Some doctors will look at you like your nuts when you tell them about it.  Low blood sugar is very difficult to deal with.  I still have the problem occasionally post whipple, even though I was diagnosed as diabetic. It happens when I wait too long between meals.  I'm not on insulin or other meds for diabetes.  Control with diet and exercise.

What is it with these doctors and their concern for scarring :~).  The surgeon who did the Whipple procedure told me before surgery in a very concerned and serious way that I would not be able to wear bikinis following surgery. I told her I had given up wearing them 25 years and 25 pounds ago, so no problem there!

Best wishes for continued good news.  Hope the other problems get better soon also.
