My brother is  type ii diabetes, insulin dependent, who had one kidney removed in april, 2007, and is on his 6th soon to begin 7th round of sutent.  His feet are so swelled he cannot stand on them and is experiencing extreme weakness in his legs.  Has  anyone experienced the same or similar problems?  Good news is all of the cancers in his brain, skull, spine, lungs and liver have shrank and are no longer visible on mri, thanks be to the lord for allowing him to be a candidate for sutent.  The cyber knife procedure took care of the skull and brain tumors.  Anyone out there with similar circumstances?

Has he reported this to his doctor? From what I have gathered, a lot of serious (or some even fatal )complications from Sutent go unreported for a length of time from onset allowing the complications a "head start" so to speak. Some go unreported at all. You know your body better than anyone, listen to it, and report changes to your doctor even if they seem insignificant.Everyone reacts differently, and each cycle can be different. Tell him how important this is, if he has not told his doctor.Good Luck!

Thank you for the information.  He has an appointment with his oncologist on Monday (01-28) for followup.  He is going to tell him everything that is happening, which he has told him on prior visits.  These symptoms seem to be ongoing and he has even been hospitalized because of paralysis in his legs, high potassium, low calcium, elevated sugar levels and other symptoms.  It seems the Sutent does destroy the cancer but it is all in surviving the side effects.  Those are what harms your body mosst.  Thanks again for you concern.

there are so many threads on this

site dealing w/ Sutent, it is too bad

they cannot be put on one thread

so that the accumulated knowledge

gained from non-physician experience

would be more readily available
