I need input. I was diagnosed with Breast Ca triple negative. I complained of new back pain at night, waking me, had a bone scan. no lesions were found in my back but one was found on my left humerus, proximally. My Medical Oncologist insisted that I have a bone biopsy. The Oncology Surgeon was amazed that I would want a bone biopsy to validate this bone lesion which he believed to be bone mets, because of the risk of fracture. I stated my Oncologist wanted it not me but I was being compliant. My biospy of the bone went well and came back negative. 13 months later, post chemo adriamycin, cytoxin, abraxane and radiation, I now have a fractured humerus. The xray shows advanced growth of this lesion. I have been asked to see the Oncologist Surgeon again. I need a rebiopsy and a plan. If this is an infection or a metastatic Ca can they scoop out the diseased portion and in bone chips or cement into the area to strengthen the weak area? I am 42 and need to continue to work hard with my arms, not just one the rest of my life. Could this be just a radiographic illusion? or a false negative? What is the occurance of a false negative? What can I do about this difficult situation?
