Hello, I am fairly new here. This is sort of ironic, but my husband was dx with NHL stage IV 10 yrs ago and again 8 yrs ago. He has been in remission all this time. He has chemo induced CHF, but he is alive. His father died from complications associated with NHL about 25 yrs ago and now his 82 y/o mother has been dx with NHL. The Dr's seem to think that it was caused by being around certain chemicals. They were a military family and lived abroad alot. Another bro has Crohns Disease. Is this rare for 3 persons in the same family to have NHL in a lifetime?

not really if you all were exposed to the same substance at one point in time.  I have nhl so far 2 yrs in remission.  The doctors claim that this type large b cell if they have this type is due to certain chemicals and I know for a fact that in the military long ago some of the homes were built with asbestos, so if you all lived in there it's possible to have the same disease's.  I worked at a printing company for about 9 years and they feel all the paint and solvants got into my system and i worked in the front office not directly with the pressess, there were four of us gals in the office and myself and one other both came down with nhl so it is very well possible depending if you were all exposed with the same chemical.  Also let's not forget cancer lives in everyone it just takes something the body cannot take for it to flare up.  hope this helps sincerely liann in las vegas
