Subject: Confused, 2 primary tumors?
Date: 01/28/2008

I have a friend who was diagnosed with ca Colon September 07. He has had radiation and a resection of the colon done. In preparation for chemo, a CT scan was done and an ultrasound. It was discovered that he has a tumour in the Pancreas which is a primary as well. (This was not there before)

I understand that both are adenocarcinomas. I am confused as I didn't think it possible to have 2 primary tumours. Is it possible that the Colon cancer spread to the pancreas? How would this be treated?

Thanks for your input.

Two, or even more, primary tumors are indeed possible.  Not sure about treatment.  I would assume that treatment, if indicated, will continue for the colon site.  Pancreas will be treated as a pancreas cancer.
