The vaccination is given in a series of three.  The first one, then another one 2 months later, then the third 4 months later.

Many insurances cover it now.  My daughter will be 14 in April and due for her final injection the last week of that month.  The first one was nothing, but she said the second one made her arm a bit sore for a few days.

Certainly a small price to pay.

Get calling and find out if the pediatrician  will do it, or if she needs to see a GYN.

Best to you.

Beth

By the way, it is called Gardasil.

Gardasil is the brand name.  Its given as 3 injections over 6 months.  You might check your insurance to make sure it is paid for and continue with annual PAP smears as Gardasil does not protect against all cervical cancer.

I have copied this from an older post on the same topic... Please do some research before you decide to have this injected into you daughter.

" I have been researching the health implications of vaccines since '82. Having discussed the subject of vaccines w/7 doctors who I have known over the years has given me a real insight into how Pharma works. Not to mention the political arena where lobbyists often have their way due to the huge influx of $$ given to campaigns. Of these 7 doctors, NONE vaccinate their own children, nor do they recommend them to their patients. However, they are constantly under pressure to do so by the state "health" dept. which has a revolving door w/doctors/lobbyists, and their ilk. "Women in Gov't" a Merck funded political advocacy group is paid appx. $5 million a year to do the bidding of Merck, i.e. the recent Gardasil vaccine. My own state senator said she had to pay $100 to join this advocacy group and it is strongly implied that they will be supported in their next election IF they cater to Merck. Collusion/transparency anyone??

Thanks to pap smears and cervical screenings, cervical cancer has been reduced by 75-80%. 90% of HPV clears by itself naturally. I have had regular pap smears since my early 20's and 19 years ago, a pap smear detected some pre-cancerous cells. I then had cryosurgery and had a clean bill of health. I still get regular screenings and if my OB/GYN notices anything unusual, she lets me know.

The Gardasil vaccine only detects 4 HP viruses, two of which are genital warts. Unfortunately here in CO, $1.5 million was recently taken out of preventative screening and treatment programs to pay for marketing Merck's gardasil vaccine thanks to pressure from the state health dept. via "Women in Gov't." As a parent and business owner, I took time and gave testimony down at the capitol re: HPV-related bills. It was truly amazing how many Merck lobbyists and pharma reps filled the room, day after day. Merck's testing of this vaccine was hastily done and resulted in 17 deaths and 85 of 1200 girls having severe side effects ranging from myalgia, asthma, facial paralysis, seizures, loss of consciousness and Guillain-Barre. Merck was warned by the federal gov't to back off pressuring legislators to mandate this bill which would have gotten them off the hook for liability reasons due to side effects and deaths which are being reported to VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System) via NVIC.org (Nat'l Vaccine Info Center). 8 more girls have died since the vaccine came onto the market w/many more reporting severe side effects. check out www.nvic.org for more info.

Merck wanted to be the first to put this vaccine on the market as Glaxco-Smith-Kline has their own version in the wings. Merck stands to make appx. $4-5 billion a year which will help to recoup their revenue losses thanks to Vioxx lawsuits, 27,400 which are pending, and the recent IRS judgment of $2.3 billion due to hiding profits in offshore accounts. They are in deep shit and they feel pressure to satisfy their shareholders as their stock has declined in value significantly since the Vioxx fiasco. Their p.r. dept. is working overtime to salvage their waning reputation. What goes around comes around.

I definitely would not subject myself or my children to this toxic vaccine which contains 675 micrograms of reactive aluminum, 1 mcg. which is considered toxic. Not to mention the other crap that's in this vaccine, I can't imagine anyone logically considering having themselves injected w/such a neuro-toxic vaccine. It literally attacks human neuron cells as it doesn't discriminate between them and the human papilloma virus as they are basically identical in structure, according to a genetics professor. This is why girls are experiencing such severe side effects. Do a google search, as mentioned in my previous e-mail, on Dr. Hugh Fudenberg, re: his 10-year study on Alzheimer patients and how one increases their risk factor by 10x by having 5 consecutive flu shots, which contain aluminum and thimerosol (49.6% ethyl mercury), which are both neuro-toxins and cause cognitive dysfunction.

Vaccines do NOT confer immunity. They do compromise and weaken your immune system and the boosters that are required only add to the toxic load your body can't handle. No wonder auto-immune dis-eases are on the rise, not to mention autism, ADHD, asthma, diabetes, etc.

Boys are the next target to be marketed to, unfortunately.

There was a typo in my last letter replying to your e-mail. It's 85% of 1200 girls who have experienced severe side effects in testing. And I have written several letters to the editor of my paper. Unfortunately, one of the editors on the staff is heavily invested in drug co. stock, so he refuses to print any letters which are contrarian to his view. He basically told me so when I approached him down at the capitol asking why he refused to print other letters I knew of from people whose children had experienced permanent neurological damage and death thanks to vaccine reactions, which are estimated at 1 million a year. Corporate print and radio media is owned by pharma among other vested interests, so it's no wonder that you rarely see the other side of this issue being represented. It's not good for p.r., according to my sister-in-law who's a drug rep.

The drug cos. are only about fear and $$. Remember their motto: "Womb to tomb, a customer for life." Think about that... "

My gynecological oncologist, who works at one of the foremost cancer facilities in the U.S., has a teenage daughter and told me that he made sure that she got the vaccine.  He also said that, if it is given to girls as a matter of course, cervical cancer would be almost totally eliminated within the next few decades.  If I had a daughter, I'd want her to get vaccinated.  No way would I want her to go through what I've had to face.

While there are good reasons to learn about the pros and cons of various treatments (including vaccines), the screed above appears to come from someone wearing a tin-foil hat and with a grudge against drug company profits (which are then plowed back into the next generation of life-saving drugs).

Talk to your doctor about the shot.

My wife has cervical cancer.  You can be sure that our 2 daughters (10 & 7) will be getting the shot.

Good luck,

Marc in VA
