I just started the Efudex today, and just found this site today.  I have seen what other folks have gone through, and I am a bit scared to go through it.  But I have also seen folks who have had major surgery on their faces, and I want to avoid that.  I am encouraged and discouraged by what I have read - but I plan to continue - wondering how bad it will get. :-(

Hi always...

I'm on day 5 of efudex 5%, twice daily.  9 applications so far and today my face feels "feverish".  Not looking forward to next week although it's a good feeling that I'm almost at the halfway point..

I've had a bit of nausea due to the horrible taste in my mouth and  insomnia on the days I didn't work out.

Are you doing full face also?

I just keep telling myself that when this is all done my skin will look fabulous!!

I am doing full face too.  The doctor did not tell me about putting any lotions or vaseline on it when it gets bad.  I see people writing about that - and that is a bit scarey. I don't know what the celebrex is all about either.  I am supposed to do this treatment for 4 weeks.  How long were you given?

I have to laugh at your last question.  "how long were you given"...sounds like a sentencing.  LOL!!

I have to do 14 days, twice daily.  Total of 28 applications.  I had a BCC's that was misdiagnosed and left untreated for two years.  Had it removed June 30...had to wait for it to heal.  Now my dermatologist wants me to do this to bring out the AK's.

From everything I read it appears to me that this is something we face for the rest of our lives.  Hope someone can prove me wrong.  Guess it could be worse though.

Lol, Oops!  Didn't mean it do sound like a sentence! I am on day 7 now and it looks pretty unsightly.  I have a job with a lot of contact with people, and attend lots of meetings.  I warned a number of people ahead of time, but I just want to put a veil over my head!  When I was in my 20's I got a terrible case of poison ivy on my face, and so far, this is not as bad.  But I am waiting for it to get worse.  HOw are you doing?

Hi always...

Day 10 here...and I can't wait to get through the next 4.  My face is very warm most of the time with constant stinging.  Funny that my nose isn't affected at all.  Splotchy on cheeks, heavier above the lips and my forehead is peppered. I dread washing my face and find it hard to wait 10 minutes to put the efudex back on.  It's beginning to dry up and feels very tight.  Driving me nuts!!  I use ibuprophen and up until today haven't used anything to moisturize or soothe my skin.  I started a little bit of Aquaphor but wait 3-4 hours before using it...sparingly.

My sessions with my personal trainer ended this week.  Working out makes it worse.  Besides, I don't think people thought is was funny to be met with, "hey, you've had your measle booster, haven't you?" It's  commendable of you to go to work.  Maybe I'm a bit more vain...and I'd be a miserable boss to work for while doing this.  Guess my employees are getting a vacation too.  haha, some vacation this is.

I now understand why the doctors are so vague about this treatment.  If we all knew exactly what was in store perhaps many of us wouldn't go along with it. My doctor said to be prepared to be away from work for a week or two...hahaha...and I don't think I'm as bad as some of the photos I've seen.  Yet...:(  His exact words were), "you'll look poopy for about a week".  Poopy??  Omg...I looked like I've been Napalmed.  Then his receptionist said that many patients don't make it the entire 14 days.  Wow, how''d they know I am so very competitive that I left there thinking...hmmm, I know I can be one of this guys "star patients".

Something tells me the next 4 days will be miserable.

Sorry for sounding so negative today.  Just feeling miserable right now.

Hope you are doing well.

Spanky and Always.....

How are you two doing now?  Spanky you are probably in what they call the erosion stage right?  Hope it is getting better everyday.
