Severe Itching

I had been told that severe itching would be a part of this, and I was all prepared to deal with it, but the only places I itch, and I mean bad, is on the bottoms of my feet and the palms of my hands.  I thought maybe a fungal rash of some sort, but other than the swelling from scratching, there is no change in the appearance of feet or hands.

Anyone else deal with this, or is this just one of those things that may not have anything to do with the illness?  I'm supposed to go back to the clinic 2/20/08, and I wondered if it was something I should mention to him.  Mine has been indolent for almost 2 years, no treatment, watch and wait.  I just wondered if I should call them and try and get the appointment sooner.  The itch has been bad, beginning suddenly about a week ago.

Hope  your appointment today at the clinic went well and that they were able to give you something for the itching.  My husband has primary CNS non hodgkins and he has gone through periods of time with severe itching.  A prescription cream called mometasone furoate was prescribed for him and it works wonders.  One application and the itching subsides until he showers, then we re-apply.  Good luck to you

Thank you, daybyday, I had a good report.  However, the oncologist feels this is not related to my particular situation.  He spoke of itching in all areas, and said that localized itchings such as this is not normally associated with lymphoma.  I do itch in different spots, all over, but not severely.  I hope he made the right call...

I was diagnose with follicular (center cell) Lymphoma Nov 2003.  It is indolent and I have used 'watch and wait" successfully since then.  One of the symptoms prior to my diagnosis was severe skin itching which I ignored.  I'd certainly mention it to the doctor (and anything else that might crop up).  Mine comes and goes with no predictability.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in February of 2007, just about six weeks after I gave birth to my first child. Throughout my entire pregnancy I had an AWFUL rash. It almost appeared to look like bug bites of some sort, and after being treated for everything under the sun. I later learned from my oncologist that the rash was a part of the Hodgkins. Here i am one year later, and still have this rash!!! It has cleared up A LOT...but still remains on my arms and calves.  At one point in covered every part of my body except my face!

They say there is nothing that they can do for it until the cancer is fully gone.... once that happens the rash should disappear!

I wish you the best of luck, and I will be sure to keep you in my thoughts and prayers!! You aren't alone!!!!

Meagain,   I have stage IV lung cancerr and am taking Tarceva.  The rash comes and goes but the itching is terrible when I have it.  My oncologist prescribed  clobetasol propionate cream 0.05% and it works wonders.  It is usually prescribed for eczema.  Put it on and the itch is gone in seconds.  And it's not messy, just a white cream a little thicker than hand lotion.  Hope this helps.
