My partner was dnx with pc on Jan 22.  They saw a 3cm mass in the head of the pancreas and said that it was very aggressive. She is 49 years old and always been very healthy.   They did a whipple last Thursday also taking the spleen as well. The pathology report came back this week and they say they did not get it all and that it was in the surrounding tissues and lymph nodes as well.  The ongologist came in the other night and said that she wanted her to heal from the surgery which should take about 6 weeks and take the  trip to Saint Thomas that she wanted to take then call her when she gets back from trip. My question is what to expect now.  From everything I have seen there is not much we can to except slow it down with cemo but that is it.  Please help me to understand what to expect in the near future.  Any adivse or information would  be great.  Thanks

I am very sorry about your partner’s
cancer. Pancreatic Cancer is one of the worst cancers possible but there is
always hope. She needs to be getting aggressive therapy... However, since it
has already metastasized, chemotherapy will be his first and primary line of
attack.  You are wise to come to a message board for comfort and
encouragement.  I would like to recommend the John Hopkins website, where
caregivers and patients are there to give you their recommendations and what treatments
work for them

I agree with the suggestion to visit the John's Hopkins forum.  The folks there are knowledgeable and share their experiences.  They answer quickly too.  From what I have seen there, they will take you and your partner right into their hearts and walk with you every step of the way in this journey, if that is what you want.

I'm sorry for your partner's situation and hope you find the answers you need.
