My sister in law was recently diagnosed with gallbladder cancer.  Her gallbladder was removed for unrelated reasons and then found to be cancerous.  During the surgery, non invasive, cancer cells spilled out of the gallbladder and are now on her abdamon.  She is undergoing chemo but having a hard time with the nausa.  She is only 45 yrs old.  Her mental state is very weak and I just want any info that could help her live as long as she can.

thanks

Emend is really good medication for the nausea.  Not all insurances cover it, but if they do get it!  If not, call MERCK and apply for a program to get it for free.  IT was the only thing that helped my mom.  Diet has a lot to do with it too.  If you can build up her immune system she has a chance.  Try giving her a tea called Flor-essence.  Lots & lots of fruits & vegetables.  Detox her system.  Lay off sugar.  They gave my mother no time as it was stage 4 and she lived 8 months.  Would still be here, but she died from an infection.  Do not give up!

My wife had been taking Emend for nausea when on chemo that worked well. But when she went on a more aggressive chemo, she was given Aloxi and then a t home Lorazepam tablets every 4 to 6 hours which worked very well and kept her nausea under good control.

As for diet, it must be bland. Soy products are preferred. If yoy want more info let me know.

Make sure she stays on good Nausea meds because the more she keeps down the better for her.

Get her started on wheatgrass and aloe vera juice everyday.

Check out paw paw and garlic supplements.

See a good naturopath who will be able to suggest diets and supplements for the specific type of cancer that she has - this will improve her general health and ALso believe it or not help the tumours shrink. And yes, despite what the doctors tell you it IS possible.

They gave my dad 6 months in June 2004 and he's still here.

Do not believe everything the doctors say.

It is their job to ensure they dont get sued for mismanaging expectations but it is your job to manage your hope.

Thank you for your response.  I will pass the info along to my sister in law.  Can I ask what type of cancer does your dad have?  What type of treatment has he had?

Thanks for you help.  Any good news I can give her will help with her spirites.

Denise

Hi Art,

Thanks for the info.  they just started her on Emend when she had her third chem treatment.  They also stopped giving her one of the chemo's for now.  She had a much better reaction this time.  They do want to add back the oxyplatin (?)  I hope the emend will continue to work.

Thanks again

Denise
