Subject: IT 110 As Chemotherapy????
Date: 02/13/2008

Not sure about the it, but the 110 is the correct number. An experimental chemo being used in ca. To treat some cancers. It is supposed to be a large sized molecule that does not escape the walls of the blood vessels that feed the cancer, so side effects are non existant. I believe it was on nova around three weeks ago. The theory being that current small molecule chemo drugs escape through tiny breaks in the blood vessels and invade the rest of your body causing terrible side effects. Anyone have more information? I mentioned this to my medical oncologist and he has not heard of it, which is understandable since there are so many trials ongoing that it would be difficult to keep abreast of all of them.

thats not much info to go on, however Celldex has a drug called CDX-110 currently being tested for GBM.  There is some testing in other tumors as well including  breast, ovarian, metastatic prostate, colorectal, and head & neck cancers.  This is actually a vacine, so it wouldnt have too many side effects.

That's it, CDX 110. You're correct! Thanks for the information. Any further news on the progress of this trial?

It was granted orphan drug status for GBM which means you should be able to get it.  For other tumors it would be available through clinical trials.  Check clinicaltrials.gov to see if you qualify.
