My Mom's Goin' To Take Tarceva Tomorrow

My dear mom got lung cancer for years (they concluded) and diagnosed about 2 months ago. Unfortunately, it's already stage 4 and there's also something evil in her brain.(my poor mom....) after a 40 days chemo, the doctor told us that is no achievment. So, my mom is taking Tarcevo tomorrow. Hope that works!!! 

 P.S. I'm Chinese, this drug cost us 20000 RMB(about 2800 USD) a month. that's really a big number! how much is it in ur country??pls

My mother also got diagnosed with lung cancer about 2 months ago and it has spread to her brain as well.  She just started taking tarceva today (on my birthday!)  Good luck with your mother. I hope she responds.

I also have Stage 4 metastatic cancer - however, my brain tumor was removed and so was my lung tumor - it is now over a year.  I have been on Tarceva since 4/07 - so far my scans have been good, without any sign of new tumors anywhere.  I did not receive chemotherapy, only Tarceva.  But I did receive 4 wks of radiation to my head.  I do not know how long I will be taking Tarceva - my oncologist says "indefinitely".  You need to have your doctor fill out forms & contact Genetech - the maker of Tarceva.  I do not pay for my drug - they send it to me once a month.  I could not afford treatment if I had to pay for it.  This is the United States, state of Florida.
