Hi Everyone

I would appreciate hearing from people who had stage 11b cc and were treated with ext. radiation, int. radiation and chemo.  I experienced increasing health for the first 6 mos after treatment stopped and am now experiencing decreasing health such as more fatigue again, severe hot flashes at night, poor sleep, bladder pain and irritation and weight gain.  Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any ideas about the bladder pain.  I'm not getting much response from oncology and the GP is just ruling out bladder infection.  Neither seems terribly interested or informed about what else might be wrong.

Hi SBC,
I am sorry you are dealing with this. I am assuming you kept your ovaries. I had cervical cancer 1b1, hysterectomy (kept my ovaries, one the surgery tried to hide from radiation), chemo and external radiation. I started getting the hot flashes and couldn't sleep all night. My Dr. started my on premarin and after a few weeks it helped with those issues. He said the radiation probably put me into immediate menopause at 38.  I am 4 months out from end of treatment and feel super super tired again. I am also dealing with nerve damage from the radiation. So I know what you are going through. Hang in there and keep asking the dr's questions or go to ones that will listen and care. There is help out there. It's just up to us to be our own best advocate. I'll be thinking of you! Tamara

Having had cervical cancer stage 3b I am suffering too from bladder problems, kidney problems, hip problems, intestinal problems, bowel problems, and many many more problems. It's called long term side effects which can last for years. Doctors don't tell you such things though. Mine sure didn't!  I was treated with internal and external radiation, plus chemo too. I did not have surgery as I was told I was not a candidate for surgery. My questions now is, why can't I have surgery now to remove female parts I no longer have use for since they are all scarred from treatments? Actually I feel I am not getting the proper treatment I need. I see no reason to keep body parts in my body that has been damaged and no longer functioning properly or not functioning at all. All I have is a lot and I mean A LOT of scar tissue that is causing other problems, such as blocking my utereter tubes, and causing pain in my kidneys and bladder. I have stents in to drain the kidneys and have had them replaced several times because scar tissue blocking tubes. I do have many, many more problems but I can't put them all down here. I do have a lot of pain to, to which doctors prescribe medications that make me sick to my stomach. I am having constant urinary tract infections too. These are just a few of my problems. Don't be surprised if you don't get more problems either. Problems doctors don't tell you about.
