Does Kidney Stone Lead To Cancer?

Subject: Does Kidney stone lead to cancer?

Hello Kidney message board!  I have Multiple Myeloma, but two days ago was hit with intense pain that was diagnosed as having a 2cm kidney stone.  The doctor has put a 'stent' in the kidney and plans to 'blast' the stone next week, hopefully making it turn to sand sized pieces so that it will pass without problem.  My question: are kidney stones precursors to kidney cancer?  Any comments gratefully appreciated!  Cath
