Sutent, Overwhelmed By Cost

I am 74 yrs. old. And to find out now that I have Kidney Cancer and Cancerous Nodules in my Lungs caused by the Kidney. The Oncologist is going nto put me on Sutent.. 4 weeks on, then 2 weeks off. .The Pharmacist told me that the pill is very expensive. That is would be $1,400.00 for a months supply. That would take almost my whole Social Security. Which is my only income.l How can people afford this ?. 
I am not on it yet because of the expense.

My father was prescribed sutent for his treatment as well. The doctor told us that we should call or visit the website for sutent ( which will direct you to the pharmacy that manufactuer's sutents site). There is a link on the site where you can download forms to have your doctor fill out for financial assistance. He did not end up qualifying for the assistance but good luck to you!
