Hello there,

This is my first post here i'm just arrived.

I'd like to ask which are the most common place of the body where the Rcc could spread.

I had right kidney removed a year ago RCC stage 1 G1-G2 and doctors says now the only right thing to do is a good follow-up and i'm feeling okay it seems after some scans that nothing has changed i have no recurrences but they said that, it could spread, or not nobody knows, time will tell us.

Which are the causes of recurrence? Stage? Size? Even stage 1 can grow back is it right?

Thanks

Hi,  My husband, like you had his kidney removed 1 yr ago due to RCC.  So far all his scans have been clear but we continue to be scanned every 3 mos because of the high chance of recurrence.  We were told that the most common place for it to come back is the lungs.  Of course it can come back in any form anywhere including the bone. Even stage I.  I was lucky to have found a wonderful on-line support source.  The Kidney Cancer Online Support Group KIDNEY-ONC@LISTSERV.ACOR.ORG  If you haven't found this site already please check it out.  They are a wonderful caring group of people who are going through the same things you and I are and have so much knowledge and information and someone can answer all of your questions.  I hope you have many years of good health!

Hi, my mom had kidney cancer 14 years ago and it has just returned this past October in her liver, lungs and pancreas.  She had surgery and had her left kidney removed.  She was monitored after that and had scans of her  right kidney only!  Everything has been and still is fine with her remaining kidney.  The problem was nothing else was ever scanned.  Request a full scan chest through pelvis.  I wish they did that for her but after 14 years they usually don't see it reappear.  She is on chemotherapy now for 3 months and just had a cat scan.  Her tumors are shrinking so the chemo is working.  Good luck with the insurance companies because they usually don't want to cover a full scan unless the doctor cleverly requests it.

Hi!         They're right , the lungs or lymphnodes in lungs seem to be the most common spot, but it can go to bone or even God forbid the brain. I was DX. with RCC in 97and had my left kidney removed. 10 yrs later it is in my lymphnodes of the lungs, my adrenal gland and the bone of left shoulder. Sutent is holding it at bay for right now, so I'll keep on fighting.Take Care                                   John
