My step daughter is 38.  Had severe side pain and went to er.  They did a CT scan and found a large (tennis ball size) mass on one ovary.  She had a hysterctomy 5 years ago, but they left both ovaries.  They sent her to her ob-gyn and he sent her for a ca-125 blood test.  Her score was 165 and all her blood levels were way off....such as white cell count was 16 (should be below a 10)  Her gyn is very concerned and is sending her to a gyn oncologist on tue... We are just worried sick.  Does anyone have any feedback.  She is not dealing with this well, nor her 3 kids.....

I know how scary it is when told about the possibility of OC.  I was diagnosed with stage 3C on 2/2/07, but mine had spread and mastastatized to my colon, and I lost my colon as well; however, if hers is only on her ovary, maybe they have caught it early enough that is is all contained.  They say many things can elevate the CA125, and mine has only been below that number once since I had my surgery.  Her dr. is doing the absolute best thing by sending her to a gyn onc.  That, in and of itself, is great news.  The best chances of cure is through a gyn onc.  Let us know the outcome.  If it is early enough, she will be fine.  Our prayers will be with your family.  Is her appt right away?

Unfortunately it does not sound good especially if they took her uterus out because of cancer. Just get a good oncologist and if it is OC they will have to be aggressive. We found in our studies on OC that women who had cancer at a young age in the uterus were better off taking out their ovaries as a prevention but as that is not an option all the best and find a great doctor. You may want to consult with www.cancercenter.com as they have many OC survivors and have live help on their pages. All the best mms.

My mom also had a "Full-Hysterectomy" 9 years ago and just found out last year that she is on Stage-4 Ovarian Cancer and we are still battling it.  She is on her 6th chemo and still going.

I know how you all feel right now... All you can do is stay positive, pray and let her feel that you are always there beside her no matter what will be the result.

Take care & God bless.
