I hope someone out there can help.

My Mum has been dagnosed with locally advanced PC and as fare as we know there are no met at this stage

As the tumor is involved with blood vessels the option for Whipples is not on the table.

I am new to this and feel very confused what to advise my Mum.  She is beeing offered chemo and rad.  Is this best or should be try for a trial.  If so which one and who do I spea to.

So many questions.  Please please help

 kindest regards

Good morning Paul,

I don't have experience to help you, but there are many people on the discussion board at Johns Hopkins that can offer information.  It is one of the PC discussion boards with the most traffic, and typically you will get response very quickly.  Here is the web address.

Hoping for the best for your Mom.

Hi, I currently do not know as we are waiting for the stage biopsy this week and I guess then we need to wait for the results.

Everything seems to take so long when your desperate.

All I can tell you is that the surgeon told my Mom that it is involved with blood vessels and therefore can not suitable for surgery.  He also said that it appears to be contained within the Pancreas

Thank you.  Ifyou are able to provideany nfo I would be grateful

Hi, my dad has pc with mets in liver.  He was not operable.  He was diagnosed in October.  He had 8 rounds of gemzar & cisplatin chemo with daily tarceva pill.  This all was very tolerable and seems to be doing a good job.  This seems to be a popular first line of defense.  It sounds like you need to hope to get some shrinkage with chemo and radiation so they can operate.  Good Luck, stay upbeat because the spirit is important

Thankyou all for providing me withinformation regardingbest options. I have been in touch with PC UK and they have pointed me in a couple of directions, also they haveprovidedmy with somevery good info regarding what s best.

We are hoping for a 2nd opinion at Liverpool University Hospital, although I'm told that although contained within the head of the Pancreas the tumour may be too large to remove at 5cm.

Worth evey effort though.

Best wishes to you all and i will keep you updated.

Paul
