My husband has RCC: the right kidney removed, the left with tumors and metasticized to the lungs. They actually saw tumors on the left kidney on the scans, operated a second time, and closed him up because the surgeon could not locate the tumors. Now there are 4+ on the left kidney. He is in a phase 2 study of Nexavar and AMG386. Most side effects have been expected -- itching, skin issues, diareha and blood pressure problems, lack of appetite, just generally feeling sick after the AMG treatment. The blood pressure is being handled through meds. In addition, he seems to catch every little bug that comes along. After 8 weeks, the first scan showed some shrinkage of the largest tumor on the left kidney and no growth on any of the others, good news. The largest and most bothersome side effect is lack of sleep and vivid, horific nightmares. After the surgeries and before the study, the doctors gave proposed that he'd live 12 months with no treatment. This regimen, they hope would double that. He -- we -- have struggled with spending this little bit of time sick, sicker than the disease itself makes him feel. Long story short, I think he would stick with it if it weren't for the nightmares, which include terrorism, suicide, snakes, among other things. Has anyone experienced this?
