Chemo And Radiation

Subject: chemo and radiation

hi there im scheduled for light kemo and radiation starting the 10th of this month  drs are hopefull my my gyno said she thinks it was caught early i had one question     did anyone have chemo and radition and there peroids stopped for good???????????/ they said it may happen   to me it would be a blessing  im so nervous about the first treatment and that im takin anxiety pills. i hope to get through this and live a normal life

also i quit smokin  im takin chantix and i havent had a cigarette for 3 days im so proud of myself  im still waitng on my pet scan rsults and im really nervous about that. recent ct scans were good but i hope the pet one is good also

but thats what i wanted to know  if my menstural cycle would stop during my treatments and replys would be helpfull   thanks   rita

Don't know how old you are and what stage your cancer is, but from what I understand, there is a high likelihood that the treatment will kick you into menopause.  I welcomed menopause with open arms, but I am 54yo and wasn't planning to have any more children.  Younger women might ask their doctors if there is some way to prevent menopause if they want to have the ability to get pregnant.

Of course you are worried about the treatment, but I got through it with minimal side effects.  Everyone is different, but I also think your mindset is very important.  Take naps when you need to, but don't think that terrible side effects are inevitable, because they aren't.

 Good luck with stopping smoking.  Take it one hour at a time.

hi aigan well im 36 and stage 2b they said it was early and i have 3 kids im done  17 soon to be 18 and 14 year old and 10  i know but im trien to think postive    i kinda hope i dont get them anymore i hate them

the radiation is going to be at about twice the level that your overies can handle.  With that said, you might want to talk to your doctor about hormone treatment after your radiation and chemo is finished.
