Yesterday I received the news that I have metaplastic carcinoma.  Today I'm going to see the doctor for my first appointment.  I would like to communicate with people that have had this diagnosis and get information on their experience and what I should expect.  Thanks.

My wife has also recently been diagnosed with this rare form. We see her oncologist on Monday July 7th and will willingly share whatever they tell us.

On May 7 I had a lumpectomy and was diagnosed with metaplastic carcinoma.  On June 12, I four a lump in my other breast, invasive ductal carcinoma.  July 15, the night before my bilateral mastectomy, another lump in my left breast.

I too am hungry for contact with survivors and information on metaplastic carcinoma.

Meet with oncologist on August 5 to plan future treatment.

Hi there.  I also have metaplastic carcinoma.  I was diagnosed in March and opted to have chemotherapy first since my lump was 5cm and the doctors recommended this.  I have finished chemo (6 sessions of TAC) and am now scheduled to have surgery in August.  Even though the chemo worked well in reducing the size of my lump, I am having a bilateral mastectomy - a personal choice that my husband and I agreed would be best. I will have radiation after that, which puts off reconstruction for a year.

How did your surgery go on July 15th?  I hope you are well on your road to recovery. Let me know how the meeting with your oncologist goes.  I will say, that although TAC (Taxotere, Adriamycin, and Cyclophosphamide) is an agressive treatment, I handled it well and know that it was effective in reducing my lump so I'm assuming that if there were other strays cancer cells in my body, that this type of chemo did a good job attacking them, too!

Best wishes,

Chris
