Base Of Tongue Cancer

I found mine by finding a lump on my shoulder. A CT scan indicated cancer at the base of my tongue. A biopsy said it was negative. Fortunately my ENT needle biopsied my shoulder lump and it came back positive. He asked for a review of the throat biopsy and this time it came back positive. I was fortunate in that the first chemo made the shoulder lump disappear and after the second my oncologist said wait two weeks and go back to the ENT for a check.  He could see no cancer and that everything looked normal. I am continuing visits every few months to my oncologist and pray everything continues positively.

It sounds like you caught the cancer early on.  You've been given a second chance at life.  My mother battled tongue/tonsil cancer with surgery/chemo/radiation a year ago.  It was quite advanced when she finally got it to see the ENT doctor.   Unfortunately, hers has come back.  She's now gone to Dr. Burzynski's clinic in Houston with hopes of getting help there.
