Please visit my website I created in honor of my father who passed away from stage 4 EC this past July.  I was a dedicated memeber to this site throughout his illness and I love how cancer compass brings the families who's loved ones are struggling, together on this message board.

I live out in Washington and am having a run this July in honor of my father to raise money for EC Research and donate it to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.  Please become a member of my website and recieve updates on the run, donate money to help support EC research and enjoy all of the great sites that I put up on EC.

When creating this website, I wanted to make a site that was easy to access and had lots of resources on EC.  When my father was first diagnosed, I was on the internet all the time, searching for any info. I could about this cancer, the right treatments and any good news I could find...unfortunately we all know that this cancer does not bring us very good news.  My website does however give you several different tools and sites in which to help you research and find answers.  I hope you view it and I hope it helps in any way it can.

God Bless ALL of you on this site.  I have been in your shoes before and it is a tough walk.  I lost my hero and my best friend 8 months ago and I was by his side through the entire battle.  We had the best care and wonderful medicine, but this cancer is aggressive and smart.  That is why I am raising money for research, so please help me so that we can help put an end to all of these wonderful people dying from this terrible cancer.

With love and support, Katie Crowell

Karen, God Bless you for taking the time to enjoy my website.  I am so sorry to hear about your father.  I remember your screen name from when I was always on this site.  I to feel a piece of my heart is gone and I hope to someday get it back, because I agree that our dad's would want it that way.  Its crazy how connected I feel to people on this website without ever having met you...we have so much in common simply because we lost our hero from the same nasty disease.  I pray you will find comfort in knowing that your dad is free from pain now.

Thank you for your message.  It means a lot to me,

Katie

Hi Katie - I just stumbled on your message on Cancer Compass.  I am so very sorry for the loss of your father.  My husband diagnosed with EC 2 yrs ago this month,  He had a resection, but 12 mths later developed a lesion on his brain.  He was operated on and has had two lots of radiation.  Today his radiologist gave him the all clear. Next month he has a scope to see about the esophagus.  As you can imagine we are so delighted with today's news. However, when I read your letter I began to wonder - what happened with your Dad - is is just foolish to hope that there is a cure? Best regards, Rita.

Rita, no, you are not foolish at all to think that things are going to be ok.  In fact, you MUST keep that outlook because I swear that positive thinking kept my dad alive way longer than the doctors gave him.  We had a close family friends who survived for over 6 years with EC cancer, which is pretty awesome...I know 6 years doesn't seem like much, but as you've read and researched, this cancer is so aggressive.  Have you visited Cathy's EC Cafe?  There are survival stories on there of people who have survived EC for more than 5 years and it is really uplifting.  I have that link on my website (www.frankies5k.com).  I am so happy to hear that your husband is doing well!  News like that keeps me hopeful for others with this nasty disease.  Remember, there are new treatments and cures coming out everyday!

Katie
