does anyone have any experience on how the cancer progresses if it is inoperable and if one stent has been placed?

my mother's skin is really, really dark and she can barely eat anything, losing weight.

she wishes to be transported to a hospital that is 8 hour drive away, and we are not sure that she will make it though the trip.

Sorry to hear that your Mom is so unwell. It seems pretty obvious that the stent is either clogged or somehow out of place. Have the drs told you that it can't be replaced? Why are you so sure that the tumor is so advanced that the stent can't be repositioned or fixed?

Hi, my mother has had alot of weight loss and decreased appetite.  Please call your oncologist and ask them to call her in a appetite inhancer called megestrol.  My mother gained almost 12 pounds in 3-4 weeks.  yes maam, this is this truth.  I think they have liquid and pills.  My mother says that its nasty, but she takes it like it is a steak dinner.

Thanks, April Mastin

Sorry, I was away caring for my sister when you messaged. How is your mother doing? Hope she was able to get to the hospital and maybe get her stent replaced. It can get blocked and cause yellowing (pumpkin color) of the skin and sickness which makes the person unable to eat which causes weakness and a spiral effect begins. Hope you can get medical help for your mom.

Blessings,

My sister's voice

My husband has stents for bile duct cancer for a year now.  They change them every 3 months.  He needs a whipple procedure so I guess it is not the last stage.

The stent is blocked.  You do have to go to a hospital to get it replaced, or if the doctor's feel it will just become blocked again, they can do a PTBD procedure.  It drains the bile out of the body. It's a big step. She will have permanent bags connected to a hole in her. The dressings have to be constantly changed, and the bags have to be drained, and you have to bee careful of infection.  However, you will see improvement right away. This happened to mymom, and in a few days her color improved and her appetite is back. She eats anything now. Hope all goes well with your mom
