Is anyone in a clinical trial receiving Axitinib (AG-013736) with Gemcitibine? How are you tolerating it? What are your side effects? Is it working? Please give me info. Thanks.
My daughter is currently in a clinical trial with Axitinib (AG-013736) although not with the added Gemcitibine treatment which I presume is for pancreatic cancer. she is undergoing treatment for Thyroid cancer and had some difficulty getting accepted for the trial. her tumours around the neck had developed at an alarming rate and had the oncology doctor seriously concerned.
First of all this is a wonder drug. - no doubt about it.- after about four days on the drug the tumours had regressed to about 50% of their original size the largest one being about the size of a ping pong ball. As I understand it this drug will also be used for other cancers such as Pancreas - Thyroid -and ovarian.
Initial few days on the drug caused severe headache problems overcome to some degree by using pain killers.(stick with it). tiredness - wait loss -
voice box can be affected and will come and go from time to time believe me I know exactly what you're going through. C.T. scans- bone scans -everything except the kitchen sink was used in our case.
Keeping the immune system going is obviously very important but we found that the diarrhoea prediction was not such a problem.
I can testify to the fact that this is a miracle drug - "God bless America" and Pfizer.
