I was just diagnosed today with large cell carcinoma in my upper right lung, My doctor said it is not poorly diffirentited (which I am not sure I understand), The tumor is 6.5 cm and in my upper right lung, Anyone who can give me infornation would be appreciated, I go next week for a battery of tests so that they can stage the cancer, (CT head, chest, bones, and Pet scan) I am scared but trying to arm myself with as much information as possible, I have had few symptome other than sweats that seem to get worse everyday. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I go from here?

Thanks,

Mandy

I had lung cancer 6 years ago at the age of 49. It was called adenocarcinoma or non-small cell which I guess is the same as large cell. It was in my right lung and I had to have the entire lung removed. I stayed in the hospital for 5 weeks, but I just had my checkup with the pulmonologist and I am cancer free still. I was too sick after the surgery, so I did not have radiation or chemo although they considered radiation for a little while. Recovery was slow, but steady. Today, I just finished mowing our acreage (although I did use a riding lawn mower). I have been monitored with CT's, Pet Scan's and Xrays since. I feel good and have no side effects except that I tire easily and I get out of breath easily at physical exertion. But all in all, I feel really lucky and wish you the same luck. It is possible to survive lung cancer!!

Mandy...
26 months ago I was diagnosed stage 4 non-hodgkins lymphoma. I ran across a book that helped me tremendously. "Beating Cancer with Nutrition" by Patrick Quillin PhD. You can view some excerpts of the book online. I am doing great now. I had many people praying for me and my faith in God is very strong. You cannot do this without God. Have someone do some research for you to keep you informed of treatments and options for your type of cancer and be determined that you will get through this difficult time to enjoy some better times ahead.
Praying for you,
Ed
