Hi
I totally understand what you and your family are going through. My mom was diagnosed in January with stage IV lung cancer with mets to the brain and lymph nodes. For her it has really been downhill ever since.
Mom had 15 rounds of radiation, radio surgery and ONE chemo treatment. There will be NO more treatments for her. It has been way too hard on her and FOR HER, the benefits are NOT outweighing the advantages of treatment. Mom is 84 and I think that is part of the reason.
She is in the hospital right now, trying to get 'stronger'. The chemo totally knocked her socks off. She wasn't eating or drinking and was so, so weak. Monday she will be released to my home and hospice is going to be called in. This is very, very hard for me, but I am coming to grips with the reality of this horrible, horrible cancer she has.
I am not telling you this to discourage you. Everyone is different and I have read so many posts here and at other lung cancer sites where people live great lives for years after being diagnosed with lung cancer. I just wanted to tell you my story so you'd know you're not alone in this journey.
Keep positive and I hope everything turns out well. Keep the board informed so we know.
