Hi ,

My husband was diagnosed with a large tumor on his left kidney in August last year. He had a radical nephrectomy and started sutent in November. He is currently on his 4th cycle and really not doing to badly. Fatigue was the bad in the beginning but he seems to be okay with that. His blood pressure has gone up but medication is settling that. His hair colour has changed from fair brown to white. His hands and Feet are the worst of the side effects. His feet have what look to be pressure sores on the base and his hands look like they are going to explode. They are swollen and very itchy. Any suggestions? Has any one used cortisone on there hands? We live in Australia so some of what is availble in the states i may not be able to get here.

 thanks

Nicki

Hi Nicki,

I was on sutent for 12 Cycles until it stopped working in December 07. My sister suggested the following to me to use. She has been an Oncology RN for 25 + yrs. Use UDDER SMOOTH for the dryness and UDDER BALM for the sores and I also took three 100mg tablets of Vitamin B-6 a day (2 in the AM and 1 in the PM).

I didn't have a lot of problems with this side effect but sometimes it hurt so bad I could not get my shoes on. I dont know if it was the B-6 or it was me. I also had the skin on my hands peel off during two of the cycles. My sister told me the Oncologists she works will have their patients use this.

Please check with your Dr to make sure it will be OK before you start. Good luck and hopes it works for your husband!

Terry

Hello,

Yes, cream and lotion works but the best what i've use in just a very simple way. You will notice that your feet when you touch its warm  and itchy. What i did is just apply an ice gel three times a day and one before going to bed at night. It really works.
