Hi

I was diagnosed with MM in 2002.  Have had tandem stem cell transplants, also treated with Dex.  Am presently taking Revlimid 25mg.  I am having flu-like symptoms, chills, extremely tired.  It is really beating me up. I have been told my body should get use to the medication. Just wondering if anyone has had these side effects?

Thanks and God Bless,

Fish1

Dear fish: I am sure many people have suffered similar side effects. Just google "Revlamid side effects" and you should know what to expect. If they continue and you are having trouble, speak with you doctor and ask him/her what to do  and how you can lessen same. All the best MMS

Every treatment my husband has taken ahs wiped him out...Dex, Thalomid & Revlimid.  It really seems to help him to keep moving aroudn even when he feels whipped.  Keeping your metabolism up really helps.

Good luck to you.

Dear Fish1,

One thing our doctor did for my husband was check his vitamin B-12 levels.  They were low, so she started him on B-12 shots, one a day for 10 days,  then one a week for a month and now once a month.  She also started him on Procrit, 40,000 units, once a week for one month and now one shot every two weeks.  His doctor uses Procrit as she feels it brings the blood counts up faster than other meds of that class.  Once he got his counts in better shape, he feels much better.  As for the B-12, she says a person can never get too much B-12 and the shots work faster than oral medication.

His blood counts have stayed pretty level for about 8 months now.  Hope this will help you.  Take care.

Jan
