Has anyone had a robotic surgery done preserving the veil of Aphrodite?

The technique is called a "prostatic fascia preserving radical prostatectomy" and is slightly different to a conventional nerve sparing robotic prostatectomy. They also call it the veil of Aphrodite technique.  A few doctors in the USA do it and we found out it is done at the Henry Ford Institute in Detroit. This technique claims to be preserving potency in a much higher rate than conventional RP.

Any information from patients who had it done would be greatly appreciated as my husband is considering opting for this operation.

Many thanks for your help guys, Ilona and Jim

My 43 yr old husband had this exact surgery on Dec 27, 07 with Dr. Peabody at Henry Ford Detroit.  His surgery and recovery have gone very well.  We attended a local PCa support group meeting before deciding what course of treatment we would take.  If surgery is your choice, than the Vattikutti Institute @ Henry Ford is the place to go.  If you don't live locally, the hospital has living quarters available to the family right next to the hospital.  Good luck with your decision.  Kelly
