Hello,

We are trying to figure out what is wrong with my mom. For about 3 months, she has lost weight, has no appetite, food aversions (loves coffee normally, but tastes funny to her now), she's pale, and very nauseated. She has had an Upper GI and a CT scan, both which have found nothing, no tumors. Are any of these symptoms of ampullary cancer or anything else you've heard of? We are hoping that we didn't miss something. Thank you.

 Michelle,

Was the CT-Scan with IV contrast?  What about CA 19-9 levels?

My father had similar symptoms. Flu-like and nothing tasted right, weight loss....then jaundice and the diagnosis of PC.  Really, it comes on so quick...It is so hard to believe.  Make sure you get a second opinion. Best of Luck--hopefully it is something less serious.  Debbie

Michelle: the suggestion of the other poster here is a good one. Here is a link to the symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer:

If it is found not to be that, after testing, keep going as there is something seriously wrong with your Mother.  Cancer can be hard to detect,. I was at end stage (multiple Myeloma) when I was diagnosed and given 3-5 weeks. Here I am 4 years later but I was most fortunate. So look for odd findings. I never had cancer markers or rise in Protein levels (which is normal for Multiple Myeloma) in fact they were in the negative. Only by a bone marrow was I diagnosed. So  keep those doctors looking. Check bladder also. Take care mms

Keep pushing and don't stop until you get a diagnosis. My dad needed CT w/ IV contrast and ERCP procedure. He was diagnosed with PC with same symptoms. Hopefully your mothers condition is less serious. Just push, push, push the doctors. Good luck and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
