chitchat Message: new syptoms occuring Caregiver chitchat Recommend this Message Report Abuse Email a Friend Track this Message [Remove] Subject: new syptoms occuring Date: 03/23/2008 My sister was diagnosed Nov 2007 with inoperable pancreatic cancer. has only been able to have 7 chemo sessions so far. Has developed massive ascitis and severe pedal edema in the past 2 weeks. What do these new syptoms mean with regard to the spreading of the cancer and how will it be treated? I will be going to the md with her this tuesday , but would like to have a heads up on what to expect. what questions should i ask the doctor at this time. Is hospice now a consideration or will these syptoms be treated and be done with ? She may be put on a diurectic. This is a good time to talk with the oncologist about whether treatment should continued to be pursued or if palliative care would be more appropriate. I wish you well.
