My husband was diagnosed two year ago with stage 3B MM. It is a wonder why he is here today. Last Aug we went through a stem cell transplant. They used his own stem cells. It was very hard on him. Plus the fact that he is in kidney failure due to the cancer is on dialzysis. We go to KU Med Center in KC Kansas. That is where they found the MM. We went back for a check up and we were told that he is in remission. Thank God!!!! But he is still very weak and spends most of his time in bed. We set up the living room with a hosp bed so he won't have to climb the stairs to our bedroom and I sleep with him downstairs. It works for us. I just wish he would get stronger. He used to weigh 180pds and when all this started he got down to 115 pds. We are back up to 140. I would like him to be heavier but we can't seem to gain anymore weight. I do know one thing that our faith in God and his will to live to see our 15 year old son raised is the only thing keeping him going. Brenda

My mother had an autologous transplant two summers ago. I just wanted to offer you some support and encouragement. It's so hard to see someone you love suffer. It sounds like your husband has a strong will to live, which I believe makes all the difference in the world.

Hi,

I also have MM , Kappa Light Chain Disease, and Kidney failure. The only way to improve weight gain and strength is to force yorself to weightlift no matter how hard it is to do,no matter how tired you are, and no matter how much you don't want to do it. Push yourself. Also take protien suppliments every day. Take your phosforus blockers with each protien drink.

Good Luck

My name is Carmen, I am recuperating from my second stem cell transplant. All I can say is that you are all in my thoughts and prayers because I know how difficult this is. Last week I was informed that my protein levels are very high gain. Please respond with some words of encouragment.

Dear Carmen, You are in our prayers. When do you go for another bone marrow biopsy? Please keep me posted and remember that you are not walking alone. The good Lord is walking with you. Hang in there. Brenda
