Hi everyone,
My name is Cindy and my father was diagnosed with Bile duct cancer in June 2006. His doctor has just informed us that he is at the end of his ropes. I am trying to find out if anyone knows about any successful stories provided from The Cancer Treatment Center? Also, if any one know if he has a liver transplant will that cure the cancer? At this moment we know that the cancer hasn't spread. But he has a bad infection due to one of his drainage bags that became clogged. He is on the transplant list but the doctors are hesitant. He is one of the top 10 to receive it. I just want to make sure if his infection clears that having a transplant will cure this cancer.
Thank you,
Keeping faith
Hi Cindy...WOW, diagnosed in 2006. What has been done since June 2006 to March 2008.
Which Cancer Center are you relating to. Liver transplants don't cure cancer, it removes the cancer. The best news is that the cancer hasn't spread, I'm assuming it has been said your dad's cancer is a primary cancer, meaning it didn't come from another organ.
It also sounds like your dad has a stent inserted into one of his bile ducts. Yes they will get clogged and cause problems, serious problems if not taken care of ASAP. Has he had an external collection bag on from 2006? These external tubes with a collection bag attached must be flushed daily if you want the bile to keep flowing. You say the doctor's are hesitant...hesitant about what? Well the infection just won't clear...he will have to be hospitalized and given IV antibiotics and yes I believe if the doctors can control the infections the transplant will surely help...but again, as you mentioned previously...what are the doctor's hesitant about. I'm still very interested about the dates. Diagnosed in 2006 and now thinking about a transplant. Take Care...Leonard
