I was wondering what anti-nausea meds people are using and what works for them. My mom starts chemo next week and I would like to hear some regimens that work for some of you. Do you take meds before chemo? Also do you experience any side effects from the anti-nausea meds. Thanks.
My husband gets a med called Aloxi via IV before he gets his chemo and so far through 3 cycles he has yet to have any nausea, vomiting or loss of appetite. It seems to be working for him.

it depends on the chemo and the doc. If its Gemzar alone then nausea meds may not be needed. If its some Gemzar combination, then it depends on the other drugs involved and their doses.
Hi,
Accupuncture can help with nausea.
Ask the chemo nurses ahead of time & then take the medicine exactly as they tell you. I think that my husband was on Zofran. Usually they give you something right in the chemo. Lots of luck to your Mom.

I used Zofran last year before taking Temodar. It was an oral medication.
Now I am given the same drug in an IV before getting Avastin IV.
I have had no nausea problems using Zofran.
FTR, I am a 10 month survivor of IVGBM, 2 resections, no seizures.

Zofran is the best stuff out there. I would not be without it.
