Subject: Stomach "Not Working" help...
Date: 03/26/2008

i just posted an update w/ good news on my dad...and shortly after that he has started w/ issues w/ his stomach. he had surgery in august and they removed all the cancer that was in his stomach along w/ 40%. he had an EGD done a few days ago and that proved nothing new. but my dad can hardly eat anything and when he does he feels so full he has to vomit. he has lost some more weight because of it. he is going in on friday for a GI series. they hope to find out what is causing him to not be able to eat.

does anyone have any experience with this? any thoughts, stories or ideas would be appreciated! thanks so much and i continue to pray for everyone that is going through this. thanks, kris

Hi Kris,  It's a rollercoaster ride with this disease, isn't it?  In my husband's case, when he displayed the same symptoms as your dad (after having almost complete gastrectomy and partial esophagectomy), a CT had shown that his cancer returned in his stomach with mets to the liver.  He filled up fast, vomited and often felt as though the food was stuck.  They started him on a regimen of Taxol (from the California yew tree) and he did well after that.  Wait for the completion of the other tests, this may be just something minor that your dad is experiencing.  Every patient is different and responds differently.

Good luck,

Diane

Diane,

Thank you so much. I will at least bring up this treatment to his Dr. on Monday when he does see him to go over the results. I am hoping this is only a bump in the road and he will get through this rough patch. He is a fighter and i am too!  Blessings to you and your family. Kris
