Cervicitis can be caused by a lot of factors and not all of the are caused by STD's. If it's severe and persistent, it's often removed with cryosurgery or laser. I didn't even know I had it until I saw the lab results with the new doctor. Hopefully, the LEEP got rid of it. I had a LEEP to remove the dysplasia, but LEEP was the wrong procedure for me. An inflammed cervix + a device with a high risk of infection + a body that heals slowly and is vulnerable to infection = complications. With the kind of dysplasia I had, laser would have been a better option. I'm still angry about that LEEP.
