My sister was just diagnosed with Stage IV Bile Duct Cancer that has metastasized to her rib bone, spine, hip bone and lymph nodes. I have never dealt with cancer in my life and have no clue what we should do. She is headed to the Mayo Clinic on Monday and they are going to see her.
Has anyone dealt with this at this stage and what should I expect. Or any advice?
My sister was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer with mets to her liver, and her cancer (due to stage, health,,??) was told is inoperable. I have done extensive research and Mayo is a great choice. They will evaluate your sister and determine whether she is a good candidate for this surgery and if so, I believe they will plan to perform the surgery at Mayo. I would recommend, if you can, to have Mayo do the surgery as they do so many that they know the intricate aspects of this surgery. Also, they will then give advice as to recommended treatment following the Wipple, if that is what they decide is best for your sister.
My sister had an appointment but declined, deciding to begin with Chemo-Gemzar treatment first. Her decision. I am happy your sister has decided to get to Mayo..good choice. Blessings and prayers for you, your sister and your families.
