Nails grow very slowly, so be prepared to have it go on a while. Husband finished taxotere last May or June and his nails have only been normal a couple of months now. They take a long time to grow out. On a positive note, the nail fungus he had on his feet has not troubled him at all, so the chemo must have killed the fungus too.
I have found out this nail problem is not a fungus. The nails are just lifting off the nail bed and as they grow it will get better. I keep them dry and clean. I'm always using hand santizer, no matter where i go or where i've been, i use that santizer. I'll be returning to work soon and work with files, i bought thin cotton gloves to protect them. I'm embrassed how my hands look, i have no hair or eyebrows but that doesn't bother me like the nails do. Weird, but people assume its fungus and back away, they don't back away from my hair loss.I'm just glad my nails where the worst of my treatment.I finished treatemnt and did very well and i'm thankful things went so well for me, and i shouldn't allow something so small bother me so much.Thank you for your comments.
