My complementary doctor gave me isoflavone to mitigate menopause syntomes caused by chemotherapy.I had ER positive .These are phytoestrogens not estrogens that are supposed to be good for us.

Are phytoestrogens that are supposed to help the bad effects of menopause (induced by chemo) a risk for breast cancer?

 Thanks,

Grace

My oncologist was pretty clear: if you are ER positive, any form of estrogen, including phytoestrogens, could fuel the cancer. I know some people think "natural" hormones are somehow different, but there is no evidence to support that and I, for one, am taking no chances.
