My husband was diagnosed with cancer six weeks after our wedding in 2004 and he has been battling it ever since.  He is only 34 years old and it has been so difficult watching him go through this.  Has anyone tried any clinical trials?  We are out of chemo options so we are looking at starting a clinical trial.

I was diagnosed with nueroendocrine islet cell tumor of the pancreas in June of 2006.  I was referred by my oncologist in my home town to Dr. Larry Kvols at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.  Dr. Kvols is world renowned in the specialty of neuroendocrine tumors.  I was on a clinical trial with Dr. Kvols had a good response and I am doing well.  Moffitt Cancer Center is a research center and Dr. Kvols does his research specfically in nueroendocrine tumors.

 Good Bless

I am sorry I did not see your message before today, but I wanted to tell you about Dr. Kvols in Tampa, florida 813-745-7257  who is an expert in these type tumors.  Have you consulted with him yet?  I was treated with chemo(cisplatin and etoposide) but they did not do me any good.  I went for treatment overseas for the Lu-177 Radioisotope which saved my life.  I appreciate your time in responsding.

I am currently undergoing cisplatin and etoposide chemotherapy for a well differentiated neuroendocrine tumor. My oncologist said it might not work on a slow growing tumor such as this. How many rounds did you have? Did you ever had radiation in conjunction? Did it shrink anything?
