My AML has returned. They are now thinking of doing a Bone Marrow transplant using my marrow that they harvested 3 1/2 years ago. Anyone out there have any info on this type transplant and success rates. Any and all info would be appreciated.
Thank you
Paul

Hi Paul
For recurrent AML, BMT is about the best option. The disadvantage of autologous (your own cells) transplant is the high possibility of recurrent AML. The advantage is avoiding problems like GvHD. Another possibility is allogenic BMT which are not your own cells, but a close match. Mini transplants are being used with some success as they kind of avoid both problems of recurrence and rejection (GvHD). Be sure to discuss options with your doc and learn all you can about those options.
