Thyroid Cancer Stage Iv

My husband has thyroid cancer that spread to lungs, spine, hip and pelvic area. He is having sterotatic radiation on the spine this next week.

Has anyone else had it spread like this? He just turned 50.

May I ask what type of thyroid cancer he has?  Any info will be helpful.

He has papillary thyroid cancer. He had surgery to remove the thyroid in January, iodine treatment in February and sterotatic radiation next week.

We have not been able to find much information about stage IV papillary

I am sorry to hear about your husband and what he is going through.   unfortunately, i personally have not heard about stage 4.  I was stage 2 and are doing better now..  one question for your husband.  did he have any pain/problems in any areas it had spread too prior to surgery?

I am glad you are doing better. When he went into surgery we knew the cancer had already spread. His worst pain is his spine. Hopefully that will improve next week with the sterotatic treatment on his spine. We have not been able to find much information on papillary stage IV. Thanks again

I read an e-mail awhile back where a lady had thyroid cancer in several different organs but was still living, active and on the go many, many, many years later!  That gave me hope and perhaps it will you too.  Of course it depends on the "kind" of thyroid cancer he has..........

I found some info on the internet just by Googling "stages of thyroid cancer."
