Hi,
My husband was diagnosed with stage IV stomach cancer on 2/8/08 and was suppose to have surgery to remove it, however when they went in, they had found that the cancer had spread to his abdominal cavity so they decided not to remove his stomach. Anyway, his only option was chemo. So we started chemo 3 weeks ago on taxotere, oxyoplatin, and a new drug called erbitux. He has had only minimal side-efffects with taxotere, yet it is still too early to tell. But so far, he has only been a little more tired and some nausea. Yet, his doctor's gave him some medicine to help with the nausea. He is in grat spirits and is staying as positive as he can. Don't listen too much to what the doctors tell you about life expectacy. They can not fortell the future. Only God knows that answer. There are some amazing survivor stories on this message board, you should check them out. There is one guy who had stage IV stomach cancer and was also told that he had 6-9 months to live and it has been 2 years since that diagnosis and he is now in remission. Do not let DRs scare you. Believe in the medicine, read as much as you can and everything should come out fine. But as for Taxotere, I have only heard great success with it. It can have some bad side-effects for some people, but they are so worth it for the price of living. I hope hear great news soon and we will be praying for you all!
