Hello !

My husband was diagnised with primary cancer being at the base of his tongue and then ging to his lymph nodes on the right side of his neck. He has gone thru three rounds of agressive chemo
and he has just finished 3 weeks of radiation with chemo.
At this time his tounge is swallon with blisters on the tip.
He is having a very hard time talking or drinking water due to this.
He does have a peg for feeding. If it wasn't for his tounge being so burnt out I think he would be able to eat soft foods.

Any suggetions on how to deal with the pain of the toungue ?

My tongue got fried from the radiation. They figured it was from my gold crown. Does he have a gold crown near that spot? That could be the cause if so. Magic Mouthwash w/ extra Lidocaine is very helpful.

Hang in there.

God bless,

Rick

like Rick, my guy has a gold crown that caused the radiation to burn his tongue...they have since given him a wax covering for his crown to help absorb the rays rather than deflecting them towards his tongue.  the sore have gotten better but he is still dealing with some pain.

I am recovering from cancer located at the base of my tongue, I have a very sore tongue and what I use to cut pain immediately is usually a swish of salt and soda water, I make it by the pitcher, I double the amount of baking soda to the amount of salt. Usually I make it to taste. Trying to eat is difficult, things I can eat are scrambled eggs with cheese, soft boiled eggs, cereal softened in milk, pudding butterscotch ,vanilla, macaroni & cheese. I have ventured to eating hamburg, hotdogs, chicken, very plain no spices, this has been a very difficult experience. Magic mouthwash is the best thing prior to eating. Wishing you and you husband well.

I would hearing about anything which helps the situation.
