Drs Won't Do Surgery

My mother was diagnosed about a month ago with endometrial cancer. She has had many health problems develop from her diabetes. Anyway, the doctors don't want to do surgery to remove the cancer due to her obesity, heart disease, stroke history and renal failure...
Anyway, she is only 62. I got her to contact MD Anderson to see if they could help her and they don't want to do surgery either. It seems like that would be the best thing to remove the cancer as best could be. Now it just seems like she is just supposed to wait and die without any surgery. They have talked about doing just radiation.

I am really frustrated. Needless to say I want everything done that can be and not just sit back and let her die. I want my small children to know their grandmother and remember her. I want to have my mother around as long as I can.

I am just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if you found some place to treat you or your family member?

I am sorry to hear about your mom.  Although I am not familar with her precised cancer, my wife who is 43 had stage IV stomach cancer and was NOT a surgical candidate due to it having already spread to her liver.  She received 6 rounds of chemo (each 3 weeks long) and was in remission 4 months post diagnosis.  There may be a reason, over and above her other health concerns, that may be leading them not to consider her a surgical candidate.  In my wifes case, the theory appears to have been better to soak her body with the chemo drugs then chase the cancer with a knife.  Just our experience.  A year post diagnosis, she remains in remission.

As much as you want the surgey the docs are correct. An obese person with diabetes, heart problems and cancer, has very little immune system.They are afraid her operation area would not heal and believe me that is a nightmare in itself. Your dear mothe would probably suffer more from the results of same.  Have you talked to her about chaning her diet.  Lots of vegies, low fat, some mile exercise, drink lots of water, look up anything you can to help her get her weight down.  Endometrial cancer is usually easily cured but as your mother has multiple health problems I see where they are coming from.  Try to get her to do some natural things like take Lipoic acid, Vitamin c, coQ10 and cod liver oil to name a few. Drink the juice of vegetables. Do what you can to encourage your mother as this is something she has control of. Take care and I wish you well. mms.
